Maison Bleu is situated in the heart of Apremont (une petite cité de charactére) close to local amenities. A very short walk across the bridge and over the river Vie is the Spar store, which also includes a butchers and post office combined. Opposite here is our local boulangerie, which offers a nice traditional start to the day selling freshly baked croissants, baguettes and pastries. Conveniently, there are 3 restaurants, a hairdressers and a pharmacy all within easy walking distance.
In the village predominantly stands a 16th century Chateau, which overlooks our house and the picturesque Lac d' Apremont, both 5 minutes walk away. The Lac is very popular in summer with a sandy beach, hosting a variety of water sports with boats for hire and entertainment for all ages.
The nearest beaches of the Vendée are 19 kilometres away, offering water sports such as sailing, surfing, sail boarding, jet skiing etc. Other great places for a day out are Noirmoutier, Nantes, Les Sable d'Olonne La Rochelle and St Jean de Monts, the Puy de Fou, and Futurescope. There are plenty of water parks and adventure parks for the young heart. Other popular local activities in our location are visiting historic places amd gardens, walking, fishing, cycling and horse riding
Our house was lovingly renovated in 2008, some parts date back to 16th century and up until the 1960's was an épicerie. We have continued to sympathetically update across the years to a very comfortable standard. There is a 160ft upper enclosed garden, a place to enjoy good views of the Chateau and village life going about its day, whilst sipping wine on the decking. Alternatively you can relax in the courtyard on ground level, where there is a planted al fresco dining area.
